# Use and Maintenance of Rough Terrain Forklifts

I. Correct Starting and Starting Off of Rough Terrain Forklifts After a cold start of a rough terrain forklift, the engine should be warmed up for 3-5 minutes at low throttle before starting off. During the initial operation, the forklift should be operated under light load for a period of time, and heavy-load operation should only be carried out after the temperature has risen. II. Maintaining Normal Engine Temperature of Rough Terrain Forklifts If the diesel engine temperature is too low, good lubrication cannot be maintained, which will increase friction on the cylinder walls. If the temperature is too high, the cylinder strength will be reduced, aggravating wear, and may even cause excessive expansion of the piston, resulting in a "cylinder scoring" accident. The normal operating temperature of a diesel engine is 80-90°C. When it exceeds 95°C, the load should be reduced or the machine should be shut down. III. Maintaining Good Lubrication of Rough Terrain Forklifts Frequently check and maintain good oil quality and a moderate oil level, replace the oil regularly, and select oil with appropriate viscosity according to the season to ensure good lubrication. IV. Strengthening the Maintenance of the "Three Filters" (Air Filter, Oil Filter, and Diesel Filter) This is a major measure to prevent mechanical impurities from entering the cylinder, reduce cylinder wall wear, and extend engine service life. It is especially important for diesel engines of rough terrain forklifts that frequently operate in high-dust environments. V. Improving the Quality of Maintenance and Repair Maintenance and repair operations shall be carried out strictly in accordance with the technical standards specified in the diesel engine operation and maintenance manual. Adjust and control all fit clearances (gap clearances) to prevent accelerated wear between the piston and cylinder wall caused by improper repair and maintenance.
