First, open the engine hood, pull out the central high-voltage wire of the distributor, place the ignition switch 6-7 mm away from the cylinder block, turn the crankshaft, and check the electric spark generated by the high-voltage wire. If there is no spark, it indicates a short circuit or open circuit in the low-voltage circuit, or a fault in the ignition coil and the central high-voltage wire. The contact points can be alternately opened and closed, and the pointer reading of the ammeter can be observed. If the ammeter shows a discharge of 3-5A with intermittent swinging, it indicates that the low-voltage circuit is in good condition and the fault lies in the high-voltage circuit; if the ammeter pointer does not swing, it indicates an open circuit in the low-voltage circuit; if the ammeter shows a large discharge current, it indicates a ground fault in the low-voltage circuit. If the spark is too strong, producing a blue-white spark, it indicates that the low-voltage circuit and the ignition coil are in good condition, and the fault lies in the high-voltage circuit of the distributor and spark plugs. Remove the high-voltage wire end from the upper end of the spark plug, crank the crankshaft, and test against the body. If there is no spark, check the rotor head, distributor cap, and high-voltage branch wires for leakage; if there is a spark, check the ignition timing and the working condition of the spark plugs.
