Forklift Safety Operation Guide

Improper use of forklifts may lead to serious accidents or personal injuries, which is a huge loss for both drivers and operators. To prevent accidents, WECAN has prepared a simple "Forklift Safety Operation Guide" for all drivers. What must be done and what must never be done when operating a forklift? Feel free to refer to it and always keep in mind "Safety First." Must Do: (Do not operate a forklift without a forklift license) • Must wear proper attire suitable for driving • Must conduct equipment inspection in advance • Must use the three-point method to get on and off the forklift • Must fasten the seat belt and wear a safety helmet • Must look around before starting • Forks must be kept 10–20 cm above the ground during operation • Must ensure driving within a safe speed range (depending on road conditions and load) • Must pay attention to pedestrians, other equipment, and overhead conditions • Avoid emergency braking • Forks must be lifted gently • Must sound the horn when driving through aisles and intersections • Always look behind when reversing; do not rely excessively on rearview mirrors and reversing radar • Forklifts must be parked in designated areas • Fork width must be reasonably controlled (greater than 2/3 of the pallet width) • Load weight must be within the forklift's rated load capacity • Must watch for overhead doorways and obstacles • If using attachments, must ensure prior relevant training has been received • Must drive in reverse when going downhill with a load • Must drive forward when going uphill with a load • If the view is blocked by the load when going uphill, a guide person must be arranged to ensure safety • When going uphill, the mast must be tilted backward as far as possible to ensure the forks do not touch the ground • Must observe and listen in all directions, ensuring people around can also notice you • Must alert pedestrians to your vehicle • Must maintain at least an arm's length distance from pedestrians • Pedestrians must receive training to understand the characteristics and risks of forklifts • Forks must be lowered to the ground after parking • The parking brake must be applied when parking • The key must be removed when leaving the forklift Strictly Prohibited: • Strictly prohibited from driving any forklift in an unsafe environment • Strictly prohibited from performing any hydraulic operations outside the cab • Strictly prohibited for the driver to perform other lifting operations with the forks • Turning around is prohibited when going uphill or downhill • Strictly prohibited from repairing the forklift without authorization • Strictly prohibited from driving with the forks raised • Strictly prohibited from answering phone calls while driving or lifting • Overloading is strictly prohibited • Strictly prohibited from moving any unstable load at will • Strictly prohibited from driving the forklift with forks more than 20 cm above the ground • Strictly prohibited from loading or unloading large items that block the view (except when moving slowly) • Do not park the forklift on slopes • Strictly prohibited for anyone to walk under a raised load • Strictly prohibited from parking the forklift at emergency exits
