# The Function of Forklift Solenoid Valves and Installation Precautions

What is the function of a forklift solenoid valve? The forklift solenoid valve is mainly installed on the forklift's gearbox (transmission). The solenoid valve has a closed cavity with through-holes and partition grooves at different positions, each hole leading to a different control passage; in the middle of the cavity is the valve spool, and on the outer circumference is the electromagnet. When the magnet coil is energized, the valve spool is attracted forward or backward to operate, and by controlling the movement of the valve spool, it blocks or exposes different oil drain holes, generally divided into normally open and normally closed types. In this way, hydraulic oil enters different drain pipes, and the oil pressure then drives the cylinder piston, which drives the piston rod, which in turn drives the mechanical device to act. Thus, by controlling the current to the electromagnet, the forklift's forward movement, reverse movement, and neutral stop can be controlled. Forklift solenoid valve installation precautions 1. During installation, pay attention that the arrow on the valve body should align with the direction of medium flow, and the forklift solenoid valve should be installed vertically downward. 2. The forklift solenoid valve should be ensured to operate normally within a power supply voltage fluctuation range of ±10% to ±15% of the rated voltage. 3. Before installing the forklift solenoid valve, thoroughly clean the pipeline; the incoming medium should be free of impurities, and a filter or strainer should be installed or replaced before the valve. 4. During installation, be sure to install the small O-ring on the forklift solenoid valve properly in place, and then tighten the screws of the forklift solenoid valve. 5. After installation of the forklift solenoid valve, it needs to be tested with multiple power-on cycles; it can only be officially put into use after confirming there is no oil leakage.
