Basic Components of a Tractor

A tractor is a self-propelled power machine used to tow and drive various mobile working implements, and can also serve as a stationary power source. It is composed of systems and devices such as the engine, transmission system, running gear, steering system, hydraulic suspension, power take-off, electrical instrumentation, driving controls, and traction equipment. Power from the engine is transmitted through the transmission system to the drive wheels, enabling the tractor to move. In practice, rubber belts are often used as the medium for power transmission. By function and purpose, tractors are classified into agricultural, industrial, and special-purpose tractors; by structural type, they can be divided into wheel-type, crawler-type, boat-type tractors, and self-propelled chassis. Although a tractor is a relatively complex machine with varying types and sizes, they all consist of three major parts: the engine, the chassis, and the electrical equipment, each of which is indispensable. The engine is the device that generates power in a tractor, and its function is to convert the thermal energy of fuel into mechanical energy to output power. Agricultural tractors produced in China primarily use diesel engines. The chassis is the device that transmits power in a tractor, and its function is to deliver the engine's power to the drive wheels and working implements, enabling the tractor to operate and complete mobile or stationary tasks. This function is accomplished through the coordinated interaction of the transmission system, running gear, steering system, braking system, and working implements, which together form the tractor's frame and body. Therefore, we collectively refer to the aforementioned four systems and one implement as the chassis. In other words, all systems and devices in the entire tractor except the engine and electrical equipment are collectively referred to as the tractor chassis. The electrical equipment is the device that ensures the tractor's electrical supply, and its function is to address lighting, safety signals, and engine starting.
